Closed system
The enclosed UV sterilizer belongs to the pressure type, which uses a metal cylinder and an ultraviolet lamp with a quartz sleeve to seal the disinfected water.
The cylinder body is commonly made of stainless steel or aluminum alloy, and the inner wall is often polished to improve the reflection ability of ultraviolet rays and enhance radiation intensity. The number of ultraviolet lamps can also be adjusted according to the amount of treated water. Some disinfectors are equipped with spiral blades on the inner wall of the cylinder to change the movement of water flow and avoid stagnant water and pipe blockage. The turbulent flow generated and the sharp edges of the blades will crush suspended solids, exposing attached microorganisms to ultraviolet radiation and improving disinfection efficiency.
Closed type is also divided into open type and submerged type. Open type disinfectors are suitable for medium and large water treatment and are commonly used in sewage treatment plants. Closed type disinfectors are generally suitable for situations where pressure is applied to medium to small water volume treatment and the sterilizer cannot be used in open channels.
UV lamps with sealed quartz sleeves in various systems can be arranged perpendicular or parallel to the direction of water flow. Parallel systems have low hydraulic losses and uniform water flow patterns, while vertical systems can cause turbulent water flow and improve disinfection efficiency.
Open system
The water disinfected in the open UV sterilizer flows through the UV sterilizer under the action of gravity and inactivates microorganisms in the water. Open systems can be divided into two types: submerged and surface systems.
Immersion method, also known as underwater irradiation method. Place the UV lamp with a concentric quartz sleeve in water, and let the water flow around the quartz sleeve. When the lamp tube (group) needs to be replaced, use a lifting device to lift it to the working surface for operation. This method is relatively complex in construction, but it has good utilization of ultraviolet radiation energy and is easy to maintain.
The water surface method, also known as the water surface irradiation method, involves placing ultraviolet lamps on the water surface and using parallel ultraviolet light generated by parallel electronic tubes to disinfect the water. This method is simpler than immersion, but it consumes more energy and has poor effectiveness, and is rarely used in actual production.
